I Noticed that you all like to be asked these kind of questions, I'll bet I beat everyone here, still racing in my mind.....those of you that know me understand....anyway I bought my 68 original  SS Camaro, Blk on blk, 4spd 12bolt posi...Factory with 23000 original miles for $500.00 (around 1990) with a current receipt for the new carb., Turned out wrong carb and the right carb was $30.00 cheeper, now what did this car cost me, Drove it for two years then installed the z 28 Handeling package, I rebuilt the Munci and Rear end and installed a 1991 mark4 468 4bolt @ 600 little ponys. I did this all at a time that I owned a Muscle car restoration Bussiness. Been offered $30.000.00 unpainted, put stock wheels back on it and it's all original, I can't touch this like I want to....sure want to build a Camaro with the same Ideas as Black Magics Nova!.....Beast.

I bought my Chevelle for $1400.00 in 1986. It has been appraised at $30,000.00. I figure I have a little more than half that much into it.

Way to go.....  You have a helluva nice Chevelle for what you have invested.

Thanks MD. It was really clean, bodywise and it was mostly there except for the engine and tranny and I already had a tranny. Almost all of the chrome and emblems are factory original except grille and bumpers and the door panels, rear seat and dash are too. I saved a ton of money in labor doing it all myself.

Thats a great feeling Ram to know you did it yourself. Like you, i did as much as i could on the wagon myself, i was working with a tight budget and my son and daughter were still in the growing phase. I didn't touch the paint or body work but i did restore all the stainless steel mouldings myself and installed the glass, i assembled a lot of the interior after it was stitched and did all the mechanical front to back. I originally paid $1600.00 for the 55 in 1993 and had around $17,000.00 in it when i was offered $34,000.00 for it at Chevy/Vette Fest in 2008 but i just couldn't part with it. Since then i've added the ghost flames and new tires and wheels which put me over the $20,000.00 mark but all in all i couldn't be happier with what i've accomplished. My hats off to everyone whether you built it yourself or not who strive to keep our hobby alive and well!!

I bought the Comet in 2005, a good solid rust free drivable grocery gitter, for $1,500.00.  There is nothing original left of the driveline or the suspension.  Me, and another "old timer" who did the body painting, has put the car together as you see it now except for upholstery of the seats and door panels and the rechroming.  If I counted up all the nickels, I would imagine I have about $16,000 invested.  It's not for sale at any price.

Paid $1800.00 for the Satellite in 1978 with a 340, and a blowen transmission. Was previously owned by a class A mechanic who installed the 340 driveline. Being a street/strip car it has seen a couple of different engine combo's over the yrs. Will keep at it as long as it remains fun.
Already got the next short block figured out in my head, 11's will be the goal.
 Cool
